10 Random Pictures of Sweden Through My Lens

Welcome to my visual journey through Sweden, where every picture tells a story. I have chosen 10 random pictures of Sweden, captured during my stay in Sweden as an international student.

In this collection, I invite you to join me as I peel back the layers of my Swedish adventure. The pictures were randomly chosen out of thousands of beautiful pictures in my camera about Sweden. And these are not merely photographs; they are windows into the soul of a place and the stories of those who wandered its paths..

So, let’s go back in time and recall the memories attached to each and every chosen picture.

1. Capturing Tranquility in a New Land

Sweden Bicycle park

This picture was captured during my first semester as an international student at Lund University Sweden. It was in mid-October. I was still getting used to my new life in a new country far away from my home.

I had just finished the first exam of this semester and was walking towards the bus stop. The scenery around me seemed to glow with the colors of autumn. So I reached for my phone and snapped a couple of pictures. They weren’t of any grand landmarks or famous sights—just simple scenes of the beauty that surrounded me. But somehow, they captured the essence of that serene afternoon.

2. Joy in Swedish Spring ; Swedish Cherry Blossom

Spring in Sweden

This was my favorite spring in Sweden. Experiencing the Swedish spring for the first time was an incomparable feeling. I was mesmerized by the beauty of Sweden.

This picture was captured in March 2020. The weather had started to warm up after the cold winter.

I felt happy for no reason, so I captured this picture of these beautiful flowers.  It wasn’t just about the picture; it was about the calm atmosphere, the happiness and relief I was feeling, and the beauty of the surroundings.

Just another snapshot of my new life in Sweden, where even the simplest things held a touch of magic.

3. Witnessing the First Snowfall in November

Snow on bicycle

It was November 2020, and the winter season had just begun. Although it was very cold, it had not started to snow yet. I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries and when I was coming out of the supermarket, I saw it had snowed for the first time of the season.

Winter isn’t my favorite season, but witnessing the first snowfall brought a moment of happiness.

4. Cake Delights: Exploring Swedish Sweet Treats

This picture was in my camera roll, but I didn’t capture it myself. It was sent to me by a friend to help decide which cake to buy for our mutual friend’s birthday. The green one on the top shelf is the Swedish princess cake, and it tastes amazing. The princess cake is one of the most popular cakes in Sweden.

Then the chocolate cake in the middle shelf is called Sticky chocolate cake (‘Kladdkaka’). Swedish Kladdkaka is a chocolate mud cake that everyone in Sweden loves.

The buns on the bottom shelf are called Semlor/Semlar or Swedish cream buns. Semlar is a Swedish traditional dessert flavored with cardamom and almond paste

5. Finding Solace in Nature: Reflections on Life Abroad

I enjoyed taking walks to the hiking trail behind our student apartments, passing by a farm along the way. I often stopped to pet the animals through the fence during my walks, and it always gave me a good boost of dopamine.

Living in a foreign country away from home had its ups and downs. I cherished the freedom I felt, yet there were days when I hit my lowest point. Scenes like this, and the tranquility they offered, often helped me get through those difficult times

6. A Fresh Perspective at Lund Train Station

Lund Sweden train station

This is just a random snap of the Lund train station. How many times have I taken trains from here that it had become a usual place for me?

But on this particular day, I was catching a train to Stockholm. While waiting for my train, I took a moment to admire this place. Despite having been here so many times, this time I truly saw the beauty of this ordinary train station.

7. Journeys with the Red Queen: Exploring Lund's Pathways

Bicycle tour

The red one in this picture is my beloved bicycle, the Red Queen. I purchased it on my first day in Lund city at a bicycle auction, where many new students gathered to buy bikes. Among them, this red queen caught my eye and became my faithful companion for two years, taking me everywhere in the city of Lund.

The picture was captured during a bicycle ride while we were exploring downtown Lund. I believe this spot is a camping area where people gather for BBQs in the summer. However, during this springtime moment, it was deserted except for a few random students roaming around on their bikes.

8. Viking Line Cruise

Viking line cruise

My First Christmas in Sweden. We attended a Christmas party aboard the Viking Line cruise ship in the Northern Baltic Sea. The cruise was en route from Stockholm, Sweden, to Helsinki, Finland.

Viking Line provides year-round daily crossings between Finland, the Aland Islands, and Sweden, as well as between Helsinki and Estonia. The on-board experience provided by Viking Line is one of the best among ferry operators. The Christmas dinner at the Viking Line is truly amazing.

9. Early Mornings at the Malmö Eatery: A Glimpse Behind the Scenes

This picture was taken at the restaurant where I did part-time work in Malmö, Sweden. I worked here during the Autumn of 2020.

It was the early hours of the day, and the restaurant had not yet opened. I arrived early and was waiting for the rest of the staff to arrive.

During the busy peak hours, we never get the chance to admire the beauty here. So, this snapshot captured me appreciating the serenity of the place before it gets crowded for the day.

10. Malmö Festival

Malmö Festival

This was the Malmö Festival in 2022. The Malmö Festival is a vibrant celebration of culture and community.  This is an annual festival held in Sweden’s third-largest city, Malmö. This festival offers a warm and inviting atmosphere where everyone is welcome.

And the best part of this festival is you can taste different cuisines from all around the world.
